Cavalry, Texas United Tie, Both Earn 1 Point

Bryan/ College Station, Texas( June 24, 2017)- Brazos Valley Cavalry FC looked to get another win on Saturday as they played host to Texas United. After a cloudy start to the game, skies opened up just in time for kickoff between the Mid South Conference rivals.  

After both teams had quality chances early on , Ben Othmane would give Texas United a 1-0 edge in the 7th minute of the match. 

 

The Cavalry FC defense played strong the rest of the first half and allowed the offense get  quality chances, however the Texas United goalkeeper Zcheme was strong and did not allow any Cavalry goals in the first half.  Texas United would go into the half with a 1-0 lead. 

 

Texas United would extend their lead in the 65th minute thanks to a goal by Botello to give  United FC a 2-0 lead. 

 

After falling in a 0-2 hole, Elo Ozumba would take it upon himself to put Brazos Valley on the board. In the 70th minute, he would score off of a great assist from Cardenas to cut the lead in half. 

 

In the 77th minute Mitchell Cardenas would be awarded a penalty kick and place the shot perfectly in the top left corner to even the match at 2-2. 

 

After two quick goals, the Cavalry maintained the offensive pressure and in the 86th minute would break through thanks to Rob Hernandez and take a 3-2 lead. 

 

Texas United was not done, and with just a few minutes left were awarded a penalty kick. After the initial stop by Cavalry goalkeeper Alex Fetterly Botello would pick up the rebound and tie the game at 3-3. 

 

With the game resulting in a tie, both teams earned one point, to give both clubs their 13th point of the season. 

 

With a goal, and assist, Mitchell Cardenas was named Cavalry Court Man Hotel of the Match this evening. 

 

The Cavalry are back in action Wednesday, June 28th, to face CLEBURNE FC at Nutrabolt Stadium.
