Cavalry hit Texas United for six!

Cavalry have had the knack of scoring early on in games, but it wasn’t until the half hour mark that they took the lead on this occasion. Devin Boyce picked the ball up before drilling a low effort across goal which nestled into the far corner giving Texas shot-stopper Roel Martinez no chance.

Cavalry went into the break with just a one-goal lead, but when they came out after the interval, they ran riot. Jacob Evans doubled the visitors lead on the hour mark after Texas failed to deal with a corner the winger was on hand to rifle home from inside the penalty. Texas found a way back into the match just one minute later though when a Cooper Riley cross was met by the unmarked Moaid Antir and he fired beyond Chase Vosvick from close range.

Despite conceding their second goal of the season, Cavalry responded brilliantly, and Jose Sosa restored the two-goal lead after a great link-up with Kyle Edwards the midfielder slammed beyond Martinez from just inside the penalty area. Three quickly became four and it was Boyce on the scoresheet again. Jacob Evans brilliantly kept a cross in play, before picking out Boyce 25 yards from goal and the midfielder took one touch before striking beyond Martinez giving the keeper absolutely no chance.

The Cavalry’s fifth goal of the game was a replica from the home fixture when goalkeeper Chase Vosvick sent a longball forward down field and striker Kyle Edwards ran onto it before calmly slotting beyond Martinez for his tenth goal of the season. Cavalry completed the scoring in the 89th minute when a freekick was delivered by Devin Boyce and Dom Falletto met with a header which was in the path of Mason Schuster and the substitute headed home from close range.

Brazos Valley Cavalry are next in action on Friday 28thJune when we entertain Missisippi Brilla at Travis Field. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
