Cavalry Finalizes Roster with Nine Midfielders

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas (May 20, 2021) — The Brazos Valley Cavalry FC has added the final nine members to the team’s 2021 summer roster. With these midfielders hitting the turf, the team is sure to blur boundaries by balancing attack and defense in the midfield.

The first roster addition is Gifanho Lubaki, a senior at the University of Houston-Victoria. With a proven expertise in winning 50-50s and aerial duels, Lubaki is sure to stir up trouble in the midfield for opposing players. With the Jaguars, the England native has appeared in 55 games, helping lead the team to an RRAC Tournament Championship in 2019 and a successful winning season in both 2020 and 2021.

The second midfielder joining the team is Renan Dos Santos. As a junior at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Dos Santos has solidified himself as a key player in the Vaqueros’ midfield, scoring the winning goal against No. 15 Seattle U in his first ever appearance with the team. Also on Dos Santos’ collegiate resume are 40 game appearances and multiple All-Conference honors awards.

Eduardo Bonatto fills the third slot in the lineup of new additions. The senior has accumulated multiple collegiate accolades, including four letterwinner titles and First-Team All-America laurels. Along with his defensive prowess, Bonatto has recorded multiple games with two-plus goals, making him an offensive threat to opponents as well.

Fourth on the list of new additions is Davis and Elkins College junior David Jara. The midfielder is no stranger to the Brazos Valley, having grown up in the nearby Houston area. Jara has played seven games with the Senators, recording double-digit shots while still defensively controlling the middle of the field.

The next midfielder stepping onto the pitch is senior Bryce Box. During his four years with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Box has carved a name for himself, playing in 58 games and scoring five goals with eight assists. The Pflugerville native has also had six games with a 1.000 shots-on-goal percentage, making Box a sharpshooter on the field.

Seth Korenek is the Cavalry’s next roster addition, coming down from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. A new addition to the Cougar squad, Korenek has only had the chance to start one game, but has already recorded a goal and multiple shots. The midfielder will likely be a darkhorse for the Cavalry, ready to finally make his mark on the turf.

The seventh player suiting up for Brazos Valley is junior Roberto Hernandez. The midfielder has four goals and nine assists on his collegiate resume, appearing in 41 games. Hernandez has played soccer in three different states throughout the past four years, making him well-versed in the different playing styles he will have to combat in the midfield this summer.

Tom Preston from Missouri Valley College fills the eighth roster addition slot for the Cavalry midfield. The Blackpool, England native has made a habit out of saving his team from disaster, recording three game-winning goals for the Valley. Most recently, Preston scored seven goals in the 2020-2021 season, helping boost Missouri Valley to the second-highest goal total across all Division I teams.

Rounding out the midfield squad is sophomore Brody Conley. The Cypress native has found his footing at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, notching six goals and six assists for the team across 24 games. The midfielder also holds an impressive 0.551 career shots-on-goal percentage, making Conley an attacking threat while acting as an impenetrable wall on defense.

Clutch Entertainment is extremely excited for these nine young men to join the team. With the roster solidified, the Cavalry can now prepare for their Home Opener against Round Rock SC on May 22 at 7:30 p.m.
