Cavalry FC Long Haul Ends in Defeat

CLINTON, Miss. (June 19, 2021) — The Brazos Valley Cavalry FC fell 1-3 to the Mississippi Brilla FC Friday night, continuing what has recently been an offensive drought.

Facing off against the only Mid-South Division team not yet seen this season, the Cavalry FC was challenged in its long road trip to Mississippi, allowing the home team to take a 1-4-2 edge in the all-time series. With the out-of-state expedition in the books, Brazos Valley can now focus on its most action-packed home game of the season, featuring puppies, $2 Mad Ritas from Mad Taco and the celebration of local businesses.

Mississippi struck fast and often. Back-to-back hard pushes down the side were too much for the Cavalry FC to handle, resulting in a two-goal lead for the home team within the first 15 minutes.

After the halftime break, Mississippi continued its hot streak by tacking on a third.

With the end of regulation play nearing, and his team still not on the board, Brazos Valley midfielder Antoine Recizak took it upon himself to break the scoring drought. Recizak chipped the ball into the top shelf, just past the diving Mississippi goalkeeper, to prevent the shutout and set the final score at 1-3.

Across the team’s eight games played thus far, the Cavalry FC has managed to score a goal in each. They are one of only two teams in the USL League Two’s Mid-South Division to accomplish this feat through the entire season played to date.

After Saturday’s loss, the Brazos Valley Cavalry FC falls to a 2-3-3 record on the season, and the Mississippi Brilla FC climbs to 5-1-2 as part of its conference-leading dominance.

The red and black will return to Edible Field on Wednesday, June 23 when the team hosts the Corpus Christi FC. Having lost to the Sharks 1-2 in its last matchup, the Cavalry FC is looking to finally implement a home fielder advantage and exact revenge.

Wednesday will be the team’s first Pups at the Pitch event of the season, where all fans are invited to bring their four-legged friends to join in on the festivities. Additionally, the combined Like A Boss Night and Margaritaville Wednesday promotion that evening is set to guarantee fans will be both honored and satisfied as the Cavalry look for their next victory of the summer.
