Cavalry FC Recaps Record-Breaking Homecoming Season

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas (July 12, 2021) — To say the Cavalry FC’s 2021 season was filled with impressive accomplishments from start to finish would be an understatement.

After taking a season off in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the red and black marched into the summer with a vengeance and experienced immediate success. A five-game undefeated streak highlighted the team’s homecoming run, along with community events and new entertainment opportunities for the whole family.

On the field, Cavalry members notched 12 goals and 13 assists en route to the team’s offensive dominance. Another 117 shots and 51 corner kicks forced pressure on one end of the field while Brazos Valley goalkeepers snagged 54 saves on the other.

This on-field success was largely thanks to the electric atmosphere of Edible Field. Captained by blaring trumpets and a booming drumline, fans in the stadium cheered for the Cavalry FC, fully enthralled by every high and low of the battles on the pitch.

Even when not watching the games, Brazos Valley’s youngest fans had no problem finding new and exciting ways to make lifetime memories. Between the largest Kids Zone in Texas featuring inflatables, halftime games played on the field and a special kids-only penalty kick shootout on the turf after the scoreboard read, “zero minutes remaining.”

Adults were equally treated at Edible Field. Margaritaville Wednesdays and Thirty Thursdays paved the way for what would ultimately become one of the Brazos Valley’s premier adult entertainment venues of the summer. The 2021 season even saw the introduction of a new specialty drink only available at Cavalry FC games — the PK, made with sweet tea and Truly Lemonade Seltzer.

Special events throughout the season allowed the red and black to give back to the local community as a thank-you for its support over the years. Most notably, the team’s Like A Boss night honored 25 local businesses and spotlighted the managers and business owners which make them so special.

Another of the Cavalry FC’s special promotions, its annual World Cup Night, encouraged fans to wear various team jerseys and support their world roots. On the field, Brazos Valley players represented 10 different countries from around the globe, showcasing the cultural importance of soccer as a sport.

In perhaps the team’s greatest accomplishment of the season, the Cavalry FC set a new attendance record at Edible Field, bringing out 420 members of the Brazos Valley community together. After over a year of social distancing and people staying apart, the team played an important role in helping with the return to normalcy of fans, players and coaches and their daily lives.
