Know the Opponent: Corpus Christi FCBryan/College Station, Texas – April 16, 2018 – New to the PDL in 2018, Corpus Christi FC hopes to turn local excitement into on field success in their first season. The team becomes the sixth PDL team located in Texas and will hold their games at the Dr. Jack Dugan Family Soccer Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi FC will be led by Head Coach Sammy Giraldo and assisted by Sebastian Giraldo Chris Jones, and William Curtis. The team’s vision is to provide an opportunity for an area that is passionate about soccer to have a local team to support and for local players to get a chance to break into professional soccer. Head Coach Sammy Giraldo said in an interview conducted last year, “It's important for the younger generations to see somebody that is wearing their uniform that represents their city.” The team is made up of several young players including Tulsa University midfielder and Corpus Christi native Seth Korenek, Incarnate Word Forward Ben Conway, and former University of South Carolina goaltender Marco Velez. Corpus Christi FC will host their first game against Houston FC on April 21st.
