Bryan/College Station, Texas – April 18, 2018 – The Brazos Valley Cavalry FC are excited to welcome back Quayyum Murana to the Cavalry FC roster in 2018, as well as bring two new players on board. Talen Maples and Miguel Velasquez join Cavalry FC as first-time players for the 2018 season. These skilled players will bring a level of expertise to a roster that wants to see a championship brought to the Brazos Valley.

Quayyum Murana, a returning member from the inaugural 2017 campaign, looks to provide a vital defensive presence in his second spell with the team. Despite playing in only 6 games last summer due to injury, Murana displayed flashes of brilliance that indicate a promising second season could be in the works. A redshirt sophomore at Saint Louis University, Murana also garnered key minutes in 10 games this past fall during his college season. The Fresno, Texas native by way of Ibadan, Nigeria is eager to return to the Brazos Valley Cavalry FC and continue his budding development.

Talen Maples, a freshman at SMU, looks to bring his defensive prowess from the highly rated Mustangs to Cavalry FC. In 21 games played, all of which he started, Maples helped anchor a strong back line with 12 shutouts. Proving his value on the opposite end of the field, Maples also tallied one goal and one assist. Maples placed third on the Mustangs in minutes, with 1,853 total minutes played. Cavalry FC is eager to welcome Talen to the squad in 2018.

Miguel Velasquez, a junior forward at Tulsa, joins Cavalry FC with the hope of carrying his 2017 PDL success to the Cavalry FC. Playing with divisional rival Texas United, Velasquez led the team with 5 goals and created even more scoring opportunities with 3 assists. This past fall, Velasquez also started 14 games for the Golden Hurricane soccer team, netting 4 goals and 5 assists. Cavalry FC are thrilled to bring Miguel to the Brazos Valley this summer.
