Ortiz will seek further development this summer before leaving to start collegiate play at the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley.

Heriberto Soto returns to the Cavalry after a star performance in last season’s friendly against Monterrey Rayados. The 17 year old forward was responsible for the game winning goal in a 2-1 dramatic victory over Monterrey and is now a proven threat in front of goal for the Dynamo Academy. Soto has tallied 18 combined goals for both the Dynamo’s U17 and U19 teams thus far and looks to carry that impressive record into the summer.

Jalen Anderson will also look to progres his soccer journey with the Cavalry this year. Anderson, another 17 year old forward, returns after a positive performance against Mississippi Brilla in 2017. The Hamden, Connecticut native, has enjoyed a good season with the Dynamo Academy, scoring 13 goals in 19 joint appearances with their U17 and U19 squads. Prior to his debut with the Cavalry last summer, Jalen was called up to the U16 Youth National Team for the 45th Tournoi de Montaigu.

Faheem Patel comes back to the Brazos Valley as the current Dynamo U17 captain. After appearing in 3 games last summer, the midfielder returned to the Dynamo Academy and has started in all 21 games played this season. A reliable presence in the middle, Patel will offer a young maturity that is greatly valued amongst this season’s roster.

Erik McCue joins the Cavalry in 2018 as a promising defender from the Dynamo’s U17 team. Originally from Gothenburg, Sweden, Erik has started in all 18 games played so far and enjoyed a great first season with the Dynamo Academy after relocating from D.C. United’s youth system. McCue will look to further evolve his defensive prowess with his debut with the Cavalry in 2018.
