Bryan/College Station, Texas – May 22, 2018 – Brazos Valley Cavalry FC debuted in 2018 strong when they took on USA ISL Oilers FC for a friendly at Travis Field this past Saturday. They will look to continue that effort in their PDL season opener against Houston FC The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CST and will be streamed live on Clutch TV.

Brazos Valley Cavalry FC enters their second season in the PSL after finishing last year with a 3rd place divisional finish in PDL last season. The team had a very strong performance against ISL USA Oilers FC, in a friendly that treated the home crowd to a 11-0 victory. Now the team must answer the step up in competition as they begin what will be a tough season in the PDL. For the Cavalry, they will return Josue Palomino, the Houston Baptist midfielder who will serve in a leadership role for the team on the field.

Houston FC has started off slow in the 2018 PDL season, with the team currently sitting at 0-2-0, ranking second to last in the Mid-South Division. Last season, the club did not fare well in their first PDL season, ranking at the bottom of the Mid-South Division with only 8 points for the year. Led by second year Manager Bruce Talbot, Houston FC will look to bounce back vs the Cavalry. In order to be successful, Houston FC will need a strong performance from Christian McArthur, who has already tallied one goal this season and has played every minute thus far for the club.

Saturday’s match will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two clubs. In three matches last season, the Cavalry defeated Houston FC twice at home and once on the road by a combined score of 9-1.
