Cavalry Earn Big Road Win Against AHFC RoyalsHouston, Texas – June 18, 2018 – The first time, the Cavalry met with the AHFC Royals at Travis Field, the visitors came away with a 4-2 win. This time, the visitors once again had the edge, with the Cavalry scoring two second half goals to defeat the Mid-South division leading Royals in Houston. Dealing with less than ideal weather conditions all day long, the Cavalry did not start off the way they wanted with the Royals striking first, just 6 minutes into the ball game. The Cavalry and Royals would both get their chances in the first half, in what turned into an evenly matched contest. The tides of the game would change in the 45th minute, when Cavalry midfielder Miguel Velasquez would put a Brandon Guhl cross into the back of the net to tie the game right before the halftime whistle blew. The second half would be a continuation of the end of the first half, with the Cavalry carrying the momentum gained before the break into taking the lead on a Miguel Velasquez penalty kick, his second goal of the night. The Cavalry continued pushing waves of attacks forward, with several near chances. The team would again break through and score their third goal, off the foot of forward Brandon Guhl, his third of the season. That score would go on to be the final, as the Cavalry come away with three points on the road against a tough AHFC Royals team. The Cavalry will return home Thursday, for a friendly against Regals SCA at 7:30 at Travis Field.
