Cavalry run out clear winners on the road! The two previous games at Travis Field had been high scoring draws, so it was no surprise there were five goals in this game. It was Cavalry who took the lead just before the half hour mark when the referee awarded a penalty after Jacob Evans was upended. Devin Boyce stepped up and converted the spot-kick off the post and beyond Nic Farr. Just ten minutes later Cavalry doubled their lead with a potential goal of the season candidate. Winger Tsubasa Takada pocked the ball up inside his own half before going on to beat five players and slamming a left footed effort across goal and into Farr’s far post! On the stroke of half time Cavalry were out of sight when Jacob Evans cut in from the wing and picked out Boyce and he fired home for his second of the game. The second half saw the hosts come out on the front foot looking to reduce the deficit and they did just that on 56 minutes. Harry Reilly played a ball over the top of the Cavalry defense and Sandre Olsen ran into it and fired beyond Alex Fetterly in the Cavalry goal. Cavalry didn’t let the goal affect them though and they wrapped up the three points just after the hour mark when they were awarded a second penalty of the evening after Jesse Ortiz was bought down just inside the penalty area. Captain Andre Charalambous took responsibility from the spot on that occasion, and despite slipping in his run up he managed to beat Farr in the Mississippi goal. Brazos Valley Cavalry are next in action on Monday 8th July 2019 when we travel to Houston FC. Kick-off is at 7pm. |
