Cavalry make it 12 unbeaten!Cavalry ran out 3-0 winners with all three goals coming in an action packed first-half. The Cavalry took the lead on 9 minutes when Christian Clarke played a terrific cross-field ball into the path of Tsubasa Takada and he nodded into the path of striker Dom Faletto who managed to lob oncoming goalkeeper Jacob Madden and give the Cavalry the lead. Cavalry doubled their advantage on 26 minutes when Madden could only clear a ball into the path of Jesse Ortiz and the Cavalry attacking midfielder took a touch before hitting home into an empty net from 25 yards out. Cavalry headed into the break with a three-goal lead, after Devin Boyce played a ball left for Takada and the pacey winger beat two men before firing a low left footed effort across goal which nestled in Madden’s far corner. Cavalry could have further been out of sight in the second-half had it not been for Jacob Madden who made amends for his earlier mistake with a string of high-quality saves. Just before the hour mark the Houston shot-stopper was called into action when Cavalry won a freekick just outside the penalty area and Jesse Ortiz curled a terrific effort goalward, but Madden managed to get down low to his left and deny Ortiz his second of the evening. Kenny Bundy rang the changes in the second half and substitute Mason Schuster was next to test Madden just one minute after entering the field of play. The forward was picked out wide right and drove into the area before unleashing a terrific effort, but Madden managed to tip onto the post before the rebound fell to other substitute Cyrus Harmon, but he fired into the side-netting from close range. Brazos Valley Cavalry are next in action on Thursday 11thJuly when we host Corpus Christi FC at Travis Field. Kick-off is at 7.30pm. |
